Poured into a snifter. The Chocolate Porter pours a deep black, with a slight ruby color. Nice tan head on top that lingers for a whil and retains about and eighth of an inch. Very nice lacing. Very nice chocolate and coffee aromas, very faint sweetness. Some sweet breakfast malts. Nice mellow chocolate flavors, hints of coffee, and light on the hops as expected. Nice complement on the sweet malts that make this a nice porter. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with a nice carbonation level. This is a very good flavored porter. I could drinks several of these. GCBF 2010, keg. The first sample of this seemed all wrong-- translucent, milky brown in appearance and overly sweet one-note chocolate flavour. The next day seemed to provide a totally different beer: dark brown with only slight haze, proper tan head. Chocolate aroma and flavour balanced with light roast, nice mild acidity in the finish. On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a decent beige/tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and dark fruits.
