No aroma. Let it warm, still no aroma. Later, finally some faint hints of roasted coffee, chocolate. Pitch black, lovely tan head. Decent body, slightly creamy. Taste was oxidized, almost non-existant otherwise. Some chocolate and coffee.
On tap at The Brass Tap. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is chocolate and cracker. Medium mouth, sweet roast, chocolate, light bitterness, good. bhensonb (15515) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 9, 2015
Tap at Capitol Beer Fest. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is definitely chocolate. Med , creamy body. Flavor is chocolate with a harsh bitterness and dark malt. It’s not sweet, yet not quite dry. Tasty beer. paultheguru (644) - Parker, Colorado, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Poured into a snifter. The Chocolate Porter pours a deep black, with a slight ruby color. Nice tan head on top that lingers for a whil and retains about and eighth of an inch. Very nice lacing. Very nice chocolate and coffee aromas, very faint sweetness. Some sweet breakfast malts. Nice mellow chocolate flavors, hints of coffee, and light on the hops as expected. Nice complement on the sweet malts that make this a nice porter. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, with a nice carbonation level. This is a very good flavored porter. I could drinks several of these. GCBF 2010, keg. The first sample of this seemed all wrong-- translucent, milky brown in appearance and overly sweet one-note chocolate flavour. The next day seemed to provide a totally different beer: dark brown with only slight haze, proper tan head. Chocolate aroma and flavour balanced with light roast, nice mild acidity in the finish. I’ll go with the day-2 sample for this rating. mcberko (18441) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2010
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with a decent beige/tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and dark fruits. Flavour begins with this tastefully sweet chocolate and dark fruits, and finishes more bitter and sour, somewhat metallica. Interesting one. fidel (1302) - Livermore, California, USA - OCT 7, 2009
