Pours a reddish coffee color, lasting lace, a big gingerbread, movie malted balls, roasted aroma, nice hop/malt sweetness balance on the palate, though lacks depth in the middle, finishes malty and sweet. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - DEC 27, 2015
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance was a very dark brown color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was malt, nut and smoke. The taste was nutty with some hops thrown in. A really good brown ale. chandra99 (2) - McKinleyville, California, USA - APR 5, 2002 does not count
If you haven't tried this beer, you have got to! Smooth and refreshing...great for any beer drinker. microdyke (360) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 25, 2002
UPDATED: APR 5, 2003 I tasted hazelnut...nutella. A chocolate nutty flavor with a mild thickness. I really enjoyed this brew. I over-rated it the first time. badgerben (5251) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - APR 27, 2003
Very dark brown, almost black. Just a wee bit o' head. A slightly sweet aroma. Taste is a little of roasted malt. It has a good flavor but is not so overwhelming as to demand you to only drink one a night. I think this could be a grand session beer.

Bottled. This beer formed a small sized tan head that contained fine sized bubbles that fully dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a dark brown hue. The nose was malty, roasty, caramel, sweet, and some coffee notes. The flavor was malty and caramel with a smooth and somewhat thin mouthfeel. This was a medium bodied beer with no lacing. A very drinkable and smooth beer. blackmurder (236) - Whitaker, Oregon, USA - JUL 22, 2006
Hey a nice brown ale that goes down smooth without the heavy taste of a porter or stout! Ha, good beer though. I will be buying more of this. Pours a dark maple bronze color. Aroma is of figs, walnuts, and sweet yeast! Good beer, yeah, the taste is nice on a summer day too. BRASTA (8) - USA - SEP 14, 2006 does not count

Like the guy on the label this beer has a magic effect (and tastes good)! Where can I get it in Novato or San Rafael? SanfordBrewer (1585) - Sanford, Florida, USA - DEC 14, 2010
Hazy dark amber, thin beige head, medium body, medium-high carbonation.
Aroma: chocolate malt, citrus hops.
Taste: brown and chocolate malt, bright aromatic american hops.
This is exactly what i think of when i hear American Brown Ale. Balanced and easy on the palate.
