I like my brown ales nice and dark, that's why I think this is rather good, although it lacks any real originality. Nicely bitter with a good warming maltiness. This is tasty, but so are a lot of brown ales out there. Am I an asshole? Maybe, but I am very hard to please sometimes.

Dark Brown color, small head. Lightly hopped. Roasted malts. Smooth and mild. Full flavor, somewhat malty, slightly nutty. Light taste. Finish is smooth. Aftertaste is mild and nutty, slight bitterness.

Dark Brown appearance with a decent head and lacing. Good balance of malt and nuts. Average.

Bottle. Standard sweet, malty nut-brown flavoring and aroma. Weak mouthfeel, off-finish that's a little bit on the sour/bitter side in a place where a hearty roastiness would feel better.

The front of the bottle says this is a "Light Brown Ale". However, this pours dark brown with a shade of red in the mix. Almost no head on this. I hope it's not flat. This has a malty nose but also some hops. It has an industrial smell to it. Like a medicinal hop scent. Not really pleasant or appetizing. The taste redeems the aroma. Sweet malted tongue with hints of chocolate and coffee along with a few hops. The aftertaste is a little bittersweet, but still pleasant. Worth trying.

(Draught) Sampled at the Empire State Brewfest. Deep brown-red body and a medium, almond-coloured head. Nice malty nose that doesn’t carry-over to the flavour. Average brown.

Pours deep brown with a thin off white head. It has a nose that is nutty and roasted, and a flavor of roasted hazelnut and malt. Very little bitterness from hops. All in all average.

Dark red/brown with short head and average lacing. Aroma is malt, some fruit and nuts. Taste is nutty and sweet fruits, lightly sour. Ends up chalky up front and sticky sweet towards the back.

MaxPower (961) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 27, 2005
Pours a clear dark brown with some particles floating around , small foamy tan head that leaves some lacing in my glass, roasty nutty-bready aromas. Nutty caramel flavors, finishes on the sweet side. Medium bodied with a kind of watery mouthfeel, a decent brown.

(bottle) Deep brown with off white head. Malty aroma. Flavor was nutty malts with a distinct hops finish.
