Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Cloudy dark copper colour, no head. Minty grapefruit on rich caramal. Black currant and soap, full body with rich butterscotchy malt dried out by salty grapefruoit hops. Clean, rounded mouthfeel and long minty bitterness. Nice Foghorn style barley wine. A nice barleywine, but somehow there isn’t enough malt flavor to cover up the alcohol. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Tap at Eureka. Rating #19. Dense dark brown/amber color with very little head. Rich caramelly malty aroma. Subtle flavor, a little boozy and a tad thin, but very clean and enjoyable, nice barley wine. (1891) heemer77 (5355) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - AUG 8, 2011
Tap at el Bait Shop. Slightly hazy deep rusty brown with a yellowish khaki head. The nose is malty and sweet. Lots of toffe mixed with walnuts. The taste has sweet tea and amaretto. There is also some warming caramel and hints of smoke in the boozy finish. Too sweet, but a decent winter warmer.
