olio (10168) - Tampere, FINLAND - DEC 4, 2016
355 ml bottle.
Pours hazy dark brown color with a large off-white head. Caramel on the nose, malts, subtle nutty notes, mild hops and ripe fruits. Flavor is very bready, dark malts, subtle caramel sweetness with molasses and strong bitterness. Full-bodied, strong carbonation, slightly sweet finish. Has almost some Doppelbock-esque qualities. Not bad.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, dark bread, some nuttiness, chocolate, toffee, mild dark fruits, berries, some liquorice, touch of spices and some light hoppy notes in the finish. Flavour is above medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Enjoyable malty ’winter warmer’.

3.5
MelvinKalksma (1516) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 12, 2016

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel and nuts.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/brown beer with heavy yeast and with a slight off-white/beige head.

Taste/Palate:
Medium sweet with malts, caramel and nuts.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, but misses any other flavour than the caramel and nuts. It is a one trick pony and does the trick decent enough.

rondphoto (4383) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAY 26, 2016
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of caramel malt. Clear dark mahogany brown color, two-finger beige head that slowly drops, streaks of lace. Taste is malt and light spice, as one might expect in a Winter Ale, but following a fizzy swallow, harsh hops, almost rye flavored, crash in for an unusual malt and hop fight. The two sides can find no agreement. Could be better.

BlackHaddock (7233) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2016
12oz bottle into a Corsendonk glass on 20th May 2016 while on holiday in California. Dirty, murky brown body, scummy off-white wisp and collar, no lacing. Chocolate front in the nose and taste, mild spice hints in both the aroma and flavours too. Better than it looked.
