Bottle from Grocery Outlet. Average brown ale, but not even up to the standards of their Downtown Brown, so what’s the point? Spicy, only in the faintest sense. Dull pour, slightest elements of chocolate, cinnamon and assorted other "winter" spices.

Murky dark brown with a medium tan head that goes away quickly. Nuttty, chocolate, a bit of spice. A bit more carbonation than I’d expect. It’s pretty decent for someone who’s not a fan of the style.

Bottle pour to cup. Hazelnut, nutmeg. Sweet malt focus, syrup, nutmeg, brown sugar, cola, bittersweet finish.

Deep dark brown, nice beige head. Bitter chocolate, licorice. Roast. Little fruity. Bit of spiciness. A pretty ’strong’ Characterful brown ale.

AgentAle (1726) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 11, 2015
Aroma is caramel, clove, honey, fig cream and slight chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, caramel, light dark fruits and yeast. Medium mouth feel that is creamy with a little bit of clove and light tanin bitterness on the tip. Appearance is a clear amber with a medium pearl head that retains well.

ALLOVATE (3003) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 24, 2015
At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Cola brown and bright with little head retention. Nose is subtle but hints at gooey chocolate ganache, rum and raisin icecream, hazelnut liqueur offering a boozy spice, and a touch of red timber. Quite nutty on the palate with a malty and dry, scorched wood finish. Hazelnut dominates upfront. There is chocolate in there but the nuttiness reigns supreme. Drinks really easily. No alcohol shows which is a shame. Body is light to medium light with soft carbonation. Sweetness does build but the palate is still left parched. Light spice of hop late. Quaffable but doesn’t excite or inspire. (12fl. Oz, no date stamp, Int’l Beer Shop, Leederville)

BunchABeer (30) - Red Deer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 17, 2015
Pours a clear dark reddish-brown with a small creamy light-brown head. The aroma is all nuts and malt-- a typical Brown Ale. Flavour of malt, hops, chocolate and nuts is a little too mild. Medium bodied.

12 oz. bottle at home from notes. Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have some roasted malts, a decent shot of chocolate, spicy hop character, some earthy notes, body is lighter and the mouthfeel is thin and watery. OK brown ale.
