A full-bodied, brown ale with a rich chocolate taste created from roasted chocolate and caramel malts. Topped with Czech Saaz hops to give it a spicy flavor and aroma.

In trade from Darkelf.Soft aromas of malts and caramel and the flavor is almost an exact match.Nice for a movie beer.

DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 7, 2005
Bottle from Peace St. Market. Dark brown pour with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some figs and dark fruit, nuts, scotch. Tastes caramel malty, nutty, spicy, with finishing hops and brown sugar.

SpringsLicker (3639) - Tennessee, USA - MAY 31, 2005
Thanks to Suttree for this one. This starts off with a reserved light tan head over a deep brown beer with lots of ruby where the light penetrates. Dark caramel aroma. The flavor is full of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla; delivered smooth and filling. Decent brown ale.

Suttree (6385) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 15, 2005
Bright brown, with hooj tan head. Spicy, chocolatey aroma. Bittersweet, dark chocolate flavor. Peppery, green hop finish. Slightly portery, slightly APA-ish. Nice brew!

SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - MAY 10, 2005
Dark brown. Sweet malt nose. Malt up front, hops in the finish, roasty aftertaste. Winterness comes from the pronounced hops instead of spices. Good change of pace for a winter brew.

Loved this beer. Dark, foamy, chocolatey, with just enough hops to keep it interesting. Kind of a molasseslike finish.

Bottle @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm April 13 2005
Off-white head. Chocolate notes. Round and sweet. Hint of oak in aftertaste.

mephisto (1288) - TAIWAN - MAR 28, 2005
brown, almost black colored. the aroma is malty and flavor is well balanced by hops. would be nice if it’s bit thicker, but still a very nice brown ale.

Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 25, 2005
Label continues the idiosyncratic Lost coast tradition: a Cubist-styled dual-mouthed African-American snowboards with exhuberance down a mountain slope. yeee-hah! But, the beer...how about that? Hazy, soft brown color, with ruby sides, big head, lush, light cocoa toned. Light, nutty aroma, slightly cola-ish. Taste: nuts, malt, dark fruit, ...fuller mouthfeel than certain popular browns, supple texture, medium bodied, lean, just-fruity finish. Right on for the style, excellent example, but nothing too special beyond that. Nice, though.

VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - MAR 21, 2005
Nice deep chestnut color with a mderate tan head and good lacing. Very mild spicy/earthy hop aromas are overpowered by a rich, intense, complex maltiness. Chocolate malt, maple syrup and nuttiness in both aroma and flavor profile. Fairly thick in body and perfect wor a cool spring day. Very enjoyable.
