heavy (2911) - Split, CROATIA - MAY 29, 2017
Sep. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle, thanks a lot Marko! Bottle says barrique 2013, I guess they were referring to Blatina wine vintage. It poured hazy, darker copper body with a small head. Very nice and quite complex barley wine aroma, wood, raisins, other dried fruits touched with a moderately tart scent of blatina grape skin. Flavor was lightly sour, strong wood presence with earthy notes, some malts and wine again, to a lesser degree than in the nose. Left a bit messy impression, although with a lot of qualities shown. Malty base was quite hard to decipher, some dried fruits, candies, grain... Full bodied, an interesting beer which is slowly enjoyed.

Mortlach (2534) - Rome, ITALY - APR 9, 2017
Bottle shared by ippopotamo36 (thank you!). Ambrata carica con riflessi ramati, schiuma media bianco sporco. Al naso sentori di caramello, frutta matura, botte, vaniglia, leggero vinoso. In bocca è dolce all’attacco con finale acidulo astringente, note di botte. Corpo medio, carbonazione leggera. Interessante, ma andrebbe rifinita un po’.

Fresh oak, vinous character, well developed, quite unique, especially for this region.

Tasting in Rome-Italy with daniele and Mortlach, can. Thank you Marko. Amber clear cloudy pour; medium ivory foam. Nose: it has a nice note of a barley wine, really. It is nice, I admit. Wood, malvasia wine. Mouth: it does not mirror he (good) nose. Thin, confusing and tart. Bummer.

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of Marko, shared with him and kajser27. Dark amber coloured, small beige head, dust and wood in the nose. Sweet & sour fruity, notes of wood and barrel, touch of alcohol and caramel with sourish finish. Interesting but a bit thin for higher rate.
