Tap @ Beer Temple. Hazy to cloudy ruby color, short head. Aroma of grapes, red fruit, tartness, hint of almond, horseblanket. Bit sharpish acidic sourness, maybe because of the higher alcohol content that makes it somewhat sharp and unbalanced. Rough stuff. Nice fruity backbone though.

Tap at Ma Che, Roma, 22/06/13. Dark reddish amber with a big white head that thins. Nose is soured cherries, tarte berry fruits, dry rot, funk. Taste comprises dank wood, tarte berry fruits, cherry drop sours, barnyard, funk. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and refreshing finish. A great sour.

On tap @ Ebenezer’s Pub. Clear amber/copper with no head and little lacing. Aroma of red fruits, grapes, light caramel and light acetic notes. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with red fruits, light grapes, light caramel and light sourness. Medium body. Slightly dry. Average to good Sour, but very mild. Good balance.

10/06/2013 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Bellissimo color rubino con venature ambrate, schiuma bianca discreta ma poco persistente. Al naso sentori di frutta rossa, uva, caramello, dolciastra nel complesso, con carattere vinoso, una puntina acetica. In bocca è dolciastra all’attacco, quindi acida leggera, molto morbida, uva, frutta rossa, alla lunga emerge una piccola nota acetica. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Buona, ma l’avrei preferita un po’ più secca.

dense light beige head that disappears slowly with lacing. dark amber colour slight turbid. aroma is sweet, strawb-erry, raspb-erry, ch-erry candy but also an unpleasant stale and moldy smell. taste is of the moldy -erry’s with a slight sour aftertaste. little carbonation, quite thin mouthfeel. due to the moldy spoilers i couldn’t even put myself to finishing this. draft @ moeder lambic - italian beerfest

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2013 Sampled draft @ CML Italian Beer Festival 2013. Murky reddish brown orange with almost no head. Smell is that of rotting fruits, fermenting & overripe fruits alcohol, light chocolate, mouldy, uneatable berries,… not particularly pleasant,… Taste is rotting fruits, overripe, uneatable red berries, lots of rotting strawberries, overripe red fruits booze, rotting malts, horrible terrible red wine barrel,… Body is sort of flat,… Overall like you just put a bunch of strawberries & a sandwich somewhere & it started rotting and everything, this is terrible & not what a sour should be. I hate the fact that I cannot complain about this one because it is a sour & aged in wine barrels & everything,… I have had great stuff from LoverBeer but f@#/!!k you for this & everyone involved. I hate the fact that sours are used as an excuse for selling this kind of bu@&t nonsense. Waste of money… Seriously f***k you…

Torst, NY tap ($12): Pours light amber/brown with a small head. Aroma is wine, grapes, vinegar... basically everything you expect from a sour ale. The aroma is a little better than the taste, which is sour, but not averagely so. There is an underlying woodiness. Slightly sweet aftertaste. I enjoyed it, but it was not all that complex.
