30 June 2012, tap. Dark ruby. Nose is huge: pine and burnt dark chocolate. Med body and faintly fizzy. Seriously heavy beer. Lots of burnt coffee beans, charred wood, oatmeal. Big bitter chocolate finish.

Appearance: Black body with a thick tan head. Excellent lacing.
Taste: Powerful flavours - rich stone fruits, dark chocolate and a strong, ’burnt’ bitterness. No hint of its 6.9% ABV. Lovely.
Palate: Medium to full body with a sticky, syrup-like texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A tasty Black IPA - very hoppy and flavoursome. Distinct burnt characteristics.
Tap at Brewdog Camden. Dark choc brown, small golden head. Aroma is very roasty, bit of citrus hops, touch of cream and biscuit. Taste is nice enough, creamy, touch of citrus hop, bit of chocolate. Nice and smooth.

Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2012, Parsons Green, London in July 2012 - Black in colour. Hoppy; piney resinous hops. Malty; burnt/roasty malts, caramel, some chocolate, hint of coffee. Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Bitter hoppy burnt/roast malty throughout. Overwhelming burnt taste; rather disappointing. BenH (3431) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 23, 2012
keg at 9a. Black with decent tan head. Aroma has a nice grapefruit hit ruined by a cheesy vegetal note, cabbage, sweat. Taste is similar, grapefruit, nutty cheese, cabbage, some nice toffee and molasses also. Cold and fizzy (a good thing) with a bitter finish. The hops are a mess here Beese (3305) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2014
