Appearance: Black body with a thick tan head. Excellent lacing.
Taste: Powerful flavours - rich stone fruits, dark chocolate and a strong, ’burnt’ bitterness. No hint of its 6.9% ABV. Lovely.
Palate: Medium to full body with a sticky, syrup-like texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A tasty Black IPA - very hoppy and flavoursome. Distinct burnt characteristics.
Keg at the brewery, thought I had read before, good Black IPA, fresh hops at the front, good malt balance, lovely beer, wish they would bottle this one JohnRMurdoch (5049) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUN 10, 2013

Draught at BrewDog Camden on 19 Aug 2012. Poured a very dark brown, with a dense beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, dried fruit and pine. Bitter roasted malt flavours, with grassy hop and dates. Good, thick mouthfeel. Finish was tar, resin and molasses. Fin (10917) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2012
On tap at the brewery, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon 20.04.12 Looks pretty black in colour with light beige head. Not so bitter from the outset, though the bitterness does tend to open up and cut through some dark roastiness and molasses actually I get quit a blast of caramel initially but the bitterness swiftly reigns this in. Soft in the mouth, some burnt flavours occasionally pop up. Another beer that I’m really enjoying from Lovibonds. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.9

On cask at The Holyrood 9A. Pours a very dark ruby colour with a decent light tan head. A lovely aroma of blackcurrant, pine, roasty malt, chocolate and alcohol. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and CO2 prickle with a foamy mouth-feel. Very nice. berkshirejohn (6655) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2013 Keg at the brewery tap in Henley. The first sunny Friday afternoon of the summer, so what better to do than head over to the Lovibond brewery tap in Henley. After a sample of this I decided it was the perfect beer to drink sitting in their garden watching the world go by.fonefan (51072) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2012
It’s pitch black in colour with a tawny tint against the light and a thin cream head; the aroma was hard to identify at first - I picked up wood smoke and licorice, but in the end I decided it most reminded me of warm, freshly laid, tarmac. It’s soft in the mouth, and there is an immediate impact from the hops which are assertive and mellow at the same time, and are supported rich, slightly tarry, malts that give a slight sweetness that offsets the dryness of the hops well. Excellent.
