This beer started as a fermentation mistake with our flagship Henley Gold, giving us the sourness and drinkability of a Berliner Weisse. It tasted great but we thought it would be interesting to add a wild character to the beer. we filled used Frencg Pinot Noir barrels with the sour beer and a host of other good bacteria and wild yeast, then closed the door.

May 2016 - Keg at Brewdog Camden as ’Lovibonds Pinot Noir Barrel Sour Grapes’. Orange, still, pretty clear, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is vinegary, honey and lemon, some wine. Body is medium to light, spritzy carbonation, slightly foamy, tooth-coating and enamel-stripping. Taste is rounded sour fruits, tart lemon, softly woody, dates, red grape finish. Nice flavour, pity about the palate on these sour beers. Was licking my teeth for a few hours after this one. (3.8)

August 2016 - Bottle share at Chriso’s as Lovibonds Sour Grapes, 5.4%, red wax. Cheers Ed. This beer is better from a bottle. Genuine lambic notes. Sherbety, grape, lime, soft acidity, musty, oak. Lovely. (4.1)

EdKing (2668) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2015
Bottle from Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Nose is lemon, light funk, lemon peel, tart, urine, lightly sweet, light grain, soda. Taste is grapefruit and lemon rind tangy bitter citrous fruit, light, soft on the palate beer, with moderate tartness and some lovely soft red wine vinous notes, little cheese rind. Nice English lambic which whilst only moderately tart and lightly funky, has a lovely balance of flavours and a unique red wine vinous softness.
