Super malty beer. I love malts, and I’m absolutely gobsmacked. It’s so malty everywhere, from aroma to late finish, and even more in between. Full and rich body. Malts malts malts malts! Me likey!
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2009 Draft @ Annafest. In krug, has an intensely textured off-white head. Appears gold. The woodsy aroma smells smokey as well as dry and grassy. Is Franken, nutty whole grain with gentle hopping. The flavors are farmy, rustic, fun and funky with lots of mushroom. Has some burnt butter and sawdust and is not bright enough, but I like it. fonefan (49548) - VestJylland, DENMARK - AUG 25, 2010

Bottle 500ml. @ home.
Clear light medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, hay, cereal, moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
My Bottom Line : madmitch76 (24980) - , Essex, ENGLAND - FEB 7, 2014
This festbier’s herbal, peppery subtleties are met by doughy cereals in this drinkable but perhaps too plump of a lager.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam slowly sinks into the krug.
-Malts don’t offer many polished flavors, which seemed to be the case in most Annafestbiers.
-The soft effervescence works well with the full body, but drinkability is inevitably low due to that same fullness.
-I thought none of the Annafestbiers were as good as the breweries’ staple beers. Löwenbräu Buttenheim is a good example; their Ungespundetes and Vollbier Hell are both splendid and full of personality while their Annafestbier was just another Annafestbier.
On tap at Annafest.

Bamberg Bash Day 2. Draft at the Brewpub. Amber beer, small white head. Palate is light and softish with fine carbonation. Good malts, nice Marzen nuttyness. Little peel bitterness. Dried fruits. Dry crisp finish. Tasty.
Bottle shared at Lowenbrau in Buttenheim on day 2 of the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. Pours clearish gold with a foamy white head. The nose holds crispy cereal and hay. Medium sweet flavour with further cereal, bread, light grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately crisp on the finish, with more lightly toasted cereal. Tasty beer. pivnizub (10662) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2007
Bottle (purchased at the brewery): Deep golden coloured, small foamy layer; distinctive Tettnang hops in the nose, backed by a sweet-bready maltiness, solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; lingering, soft aromatic-hoppy and sweet-malty finish. A well balanced, tasty Märzen.........
P.S. This brew is identical to the beer, that is served at the Annafest ! Miksu (5053) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - JAN 28, 2012
Draught at GBBF 2011. Golden color. Sweet very honeyish and nectar like maltiness with pale bread crust. Nice fresh maltiness, very drinkable.
