I just noticed what style this is listed as, "American Dark" and think that sums up this beer. It is malty and creamy, but it is watered down for the American palate. A grocery store beer. Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - FEB 19, 2003
Translucent walnut color, hardly a head, faint coffee nose. Starts out with a promising malty roastiness but then it abruptly stops and gets thin and watery. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 22, 2003
I was very weary of this, but I actually enjoyed it. Goes down really smooth. Very meduim-bodied, malty and creamy at the finish, I could drink this again. Frank (4194) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 16, 2003
Much better cold; the malt flavor is more appearant and some sour notes are hidden. Slightly-carmelly malt nose. A hint of roasted barley. Negligible head. Active carbonation. Reddish brown. Light to medium bodied. Front is a bit watery but the finish is malty and creamy. Crit (3996) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 5, 2003
Good malt profile throughout with medium body.

Much better than the original. Better malt and overall impression. Slight toastiness. HarmonKill-a-Brew (407) - Wilmar, Arkansas, USA - DEC 15, 2002
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2005 I LOVE THIS... I was shocked at how good this stuff was considering most of the ratings were low to average. Sweet, roasted, tasty malts. Very good! Serve on the colder end of cool, but not ice cold. Nastrass (58) - Texas, USA - DEC 7, 2002
Nice darker brown color. Medium head, with little lace. Decent malt flavors, with a little too much sweetness. Not as good as I remember, but then those were the college years. RaginCajun (320) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 29, 2002
Smooth tasty beer. Good amount of flavor. Always welcome in my mini-fridge. Zodanga (26) - Alabama, USA - OCT 25, 2002
It basically a regular lowenbrau made dark. Nothing special here.
