Well, its dark - ruby red - I’ll give it that. This is actually far superior to the regular Lowenbrau offering - much better flavor, aftertaste, everything. Nothing stands out in the aroma, save for some malts. Very mild aftertaste. Still somewhat bland, but if you have to choose between the two, go for this.

I don’t know why I continue to punish myself. While this beer wasn’t as terrible as its premium lager cousin, it was not very good. It had a sharp/yeasty taste in the middle of my tongue that just made the whole experience unpleasant.

Brown in color with a quickly disappearing head. Nice malt aroma. Somewhat weak and wimpy malt flavor that is disappointing. Finishes weakly.

A below average dark beer. Not that bad, but why settle for less? Surely not good enough to Lower my Brow. BAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!1111

bland, watery, caramelly crap. slight hallertau noticeable in the finish that redeems it a bit. but not much.

In 1979 I used to drink this stuff when I got off work. It was one of the few beers around at that time that weren't pale American shit. Dark chocolate, with not enough head and what there is doesn't stay around long. Cidery taste on the backend that is either hops or something fell from the pits of Hades. It was OK back in the day--now it just sucks.

friend offered me the swill while over at his house because he thougth this was a beer with some down good home cooked german flavor....not! basically like the original with some food coloring. possibly a bit more malty texture due to your eyes seeing brown and not nearly as skunked bitter that original always has. gotta love those adjunct macro gods!

RSRIZZO (1986) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2007
Had this beer on 2/1/2000. Aroma is a light crisp malt scent. Carbonation is very good with a thick head. Taste is light crisp and clean. Starting with a light body it goes down crisp. The finish a light malt flavor with only the faintest hint of a roasted taste. It doesn’t seem to be much more than a dark colored Pilsner.

Decent dark lager. This was the first dark I ever tried, back in the early 80s when it was brewed by Miller. I could barely finish it then! It was too exotic for me. Recently tried the Canadian brewed version and found it to be not bad at all.
