Dark brown color, much impenetrable one qith a good and resistant clearly nut head. Fragrant aroma with notes of cask, aged wood and dried malty. Crisp and lively in mouth, much refreshing and poor alcoholic perception. Realy bitter notes on the end.

tap at the bavarian. pours a dark brown with a fat head. aroma is sweet roast malt. taste is cotton candy and caramel, boat loads of caramel, some roasted almost, but not quite burnt taste in the finish. nice balance of medium bitter in the finish also. highly carbonated enjoyable brew even if it is a bit oversweet. Part of the Great Munich Beer Raid 2010. On tap at the Lowenbrau Keller in Munich. Dark brown with a full tan head. Aroma was chocolate and Oranges. Taste was doninated by malt and Oranges. Bottle, Carringtons, Chorlton. Clear dark brown/mahogany pour with a fading tan head. Bready malts and a slight metallic tang was the story here. Not really worth dwelling on and rather pedestrian.

Deep ruby brown with a thin, beige, creamy, lacy, lasting head. Smells of deep malt, caramel, toasted malt, roast and bread. Medium thin to oily body with soft carbonation. Tastes of sweet malt but like brown sugar was added to it. Caramel in the middle and a bitter roast on the finish that balances it out a bit. Mostly sweet caramel sugar through. Tastes processed to me.
