Tap at the Lowenbraukeller Munich 23/1/14. First beer of the trip. Aroma is rye bread, wood bark, spritzy carbonation. Clear dark red / caramel pour with a big lasting cream head that laves some foam and lace. Flavour is bready rye bread, caramel sweetness and some earthy, mannure notes. Highish carbonationtickles the tongue, medium light body, Teast profle is fairly subdued, but there is a hint of banana ester in there. From bottle into a glass. Off-white persistent head, clear copper to dark red/orange hued colour, clear.
Aroma: toffee, caramel, light herbal, bread crust.
Taste: caramel, caffè d’orzo, bit sweet, something slight minty. Palate: light to medium body, prickly carbonation at first.

Bottled. Caramelly with some dough in the nose. Also, strong notes of toffee and roasted malt. Poured chestnut with a pillowy beige head and great lacing. Sweet and malty flavor, not at all bitter, similar to the wonderful aroma but unfortunately, not nearly as strong. Mild. Well-made and easy-drinking. I’ll have another, please. Dark copper beer with a lasting off-white head leaving some lace. Bready munich malt aroma with some toffee. Dry and malty with a hint of roast malt in the flavour.

500 ml bottle, from Rewe Getränkemarkt, Erding. ABV is 5.5%. Fairly dark brown colour, big to moderate off-white to beige head. Moderate aroma of münchener malts and fresh bread, hints of caramel and fruits/berries. On tap at Munich brewpub. A very cloudy orange-brown with a thick, creamy, resilient white head. Aroma is hazelnut, roast, toasted bread. Flavor is roast, some hazelnut and caramel. Finish is roast, coffee. Lingering caramel sweetness. Medium body, soft, velvety mouthfeel and average carbonation.
