on tap in Berlin. The best of the group. I happen to like dunkels, and so does german. Good solid mix of flavors. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2005
No#75. Aroma is sweet and peachy. Taste is malty and very easy going, nice beer. pivnizub (10616) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAR 10, 2008
Bottle: Amber coloured, mid-sized, stable off-white head with a little lace; moderate caramelly and roasted malty nose with a faint illusion of coffee and dried fruits; moderate to robust sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; sweet caramelly finish with a discreet fruitiness. a nice example of this style, a bit like a perfectly diluted Doppelbock.......... Shared with oldrtybastrd. This is a dark brown with roasted malt coming to the forefront. This is a very decent beer as it is made to enjoy. FatPhil (16102) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 26, 2009

Lovely rich brown, brief head. Stodgy husky grainy aroma. Soft palate,
smooth malty body. Woody taste, some wine, or even cognac. Lovely full
grainy nutty maltiness comes through in the finish too, with some woody
bitterness, and some slightly extracty hops too. Good alt-style dunkel.
Part of the Great Munich Beer Raid 2010. On tap at the Lowenbrau Keller in Munich. Dark brown with a full tan head. Aroma was chocolate and Oranges. Taste was doninated by malt and Oranges. Palate was smooth and a thin month feel. Strange beer but good. flying_pig (1571) - SCOTLAND - JUN 5, 2011
Tried in Munich, poured from a 500ml bottle into a branded pint glass. A pretty average dunkel here in most respects, it is pleasant enough but it is also pretty straightforward & lacking in complexity. It is drinkable but not overly enjoyable. Much better dunkels out there that I would recommend over this one. ***** See 1001 Beers you must try at: ***** ALLOVATE (3015) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2011
Vom fass @ Löwenbräu Keller, München, Deutschland.Dorqui (2258) - Brescia, ITALY - MAR 29, 2012
Produced up a translucent, shimmering chestnut brown with intermittent carbonation. Typically big, rocky off-white crown is mostly lasting and weaves a messy lace. Dusty, dirty and earthy malt on the nose with hints of fresh baked chocolate cookies and dried green herbs. Lots of chewy malt in the mouth. Quite sweet, toffeeish and biscuity upfront with a subdued bitterness of malt and dusty hops on the swallow. Lingering sweet malt notes, light chocolate and toffee with a herbal woodiness to it. The body is really quite light and its low carbonation makes it soft on the palate. Quite nice as I expected less of it. Very sessionable Dunkel.
Draught at "Lowenbrau am Gendarmenmarkt" - Berlin.fdomig (1017) - München, GERMANY - MAY 16, 2012
Dark brown color, much impenetrable one qith a good and resistant clearly nut head. Fragrant aroma with notes of cask, aged wood and dried malty. Crisp and lively in mouth, much refreshing and poor alcoholic perception. Realy bitter notes on the end.
On tap. Aroma is malty and some caramel. Appearance is dark amber with a small, fast decreasing brown-ish. Taste is slightly bitter and sweet. Leaves a nice bitter mouthfeel. Overall a very unusual dark beer. I like it.
