Pale Golden Color, unappetizing aroma. Slightly Spicy flavor but not in a good way. The finish was awful. BeerLimey (2154) - California, USA - JUL 29, 2002
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2003 Enticing green apple yeast aroma comes through with a little sharpness on the palate. Noticeable alcohol strength and warmth in the finish. Nesta13 (205) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 28, 2002
Decent Belgian golden which doesn’t stand out. Nice peppery flavours but in general not as packed with flavour as most Belgians. stic (109) - Oostende, BELGIUM - JUL 13, 2002
Bitter, almost no flavors. Dissapointing. MartinT (9880) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 6, 2002
Oak dryness and flowery bitterness…Citrus esters and clovers…Yeasty and…that’s it…One amongst many others…

Good head but bitter to tast without the liquid to soften it a bit. Spicy yeast aroma with light malty flavors. Lightly bitter dry finish. Ernest (7695) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 26, 2002
UPDATED: FEB 4, 2008 Bottle (BB Apr/10). Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (basement, mold), with light notes of plastic and pineapple juice. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A beginner’s strong golden ale, if that makes any sense. Simple aroma with a few minor off notes, simple and light/sweet flavor balance. Not much going on here. OlJuntan64 (1265) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 25, 2002
Medium yellow with decent size and lasting white, creamy textured head - some nice lite lace too. Faint fruity hops, spices and light cookie dough yeast aromas. Medium bodied with generous balanced bitter - sweet palate and nice carbonated and alcoholic tingle to the front of the mouth and tongue. Unusual lightly spiced fruity start and long malty sweet, tending to dry. finish. Intruiguingly like a Duvel in the making - anyway, I liked it! bierkoning (13352) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - JUN 19, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2005 Only slight grapefruitaroma. Strong hopbitter taste with a bit of citrus. Duvel-clone, but with less aroma, taste, complexity and power.
Other bottle-type, other label, other breweryname (Liefmans Breweries), but the recipe is probably the same. Very blonde, this Duvel imitation. Soft chalky lemon-like aroma. Flowery, hoppy, honey-like flavor with lime. Dryish with just a bit of fruity sweetness. Not bad, but Duvel is better. Drew (2411) - Kent, Ohio, USA - JUN 15, 2002
goldden body, medium head. this had a very ’peppery’ taste - event to the point that it tasted like i had pepper flakes on my toungue. that was the best part. ther was some tangy-yeastiness. the medium hop flavor helps out the dry finish. this was o.k.
