COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2003 another beer offering duvel the sincerest form of flattery. very pale with enormous frothy, excited head. smells of raw barley grain, tinned fruit, and faintly of glue (ingredients list contained a few numbers...). lightly salty, smooth honey body followed by burst of raw vodka, and a moderate bitterness that dries everything up in a very abrupt finish. rer8: nasty chemical taste. blah.

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 11, 2002
Large, bubbly head, which dissipates quickly. smells quite earthy and a bit peppery aswell as citrus scented detergent, and perhaps green apples. Taste is kind of a mix between, caramel, citrus, soap, yeast and peppery spice, then the bitter hoppiness kicks in at the end, quite dry aswell. Not as good as Duvel, but i guess its OK.

No real alcohol taste, big head, yeasty floral aroma. A refreshing golden strong ale.

Strong kick of alcohol. A little slight on the flavor at first, but picked up vanilla and citrus in the malts as it warmed up. No particular lingering flavor after the swallow. Good, but not particularly memorable.

Overpowering alcohol flavor for relatively low content.

Good taste with accents of spicyness. Average palate. It’s comparable with Duvel, but to my opinion Duvel is better.
