A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

Hazy gold with a thin white head. Sweet and yeasty flavors. Hints of honey, malt, and tinge of grassiness.

Crosling (1864) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - SEP 14, 2008
Dark golden colored beer. Wispy, well lasting and layered foam. Polish, leather and fruit aroma isn’t great. Flavor is lightly malty, fruity and sweet. Boozy and poorly balanced, with out any depth. Lacking yeast driven flavors as well. Not dirty, but not clean either. Just a poor Belgian overall.

joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2008
Pours hazy gold with a fluffy white head. Medium lacing. Nose of honey, spice, floral hops, herbal notes. Flavor is light fruit, honey malt, herbal notes and spice. Finish is dry, light sesame and herbs, malty.

Bottle @ home.
Clear light to medium orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, malt and milk sour, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (280608)

Tap at tylers taproom in durham, nc. Bright gold pour with a thin haze. Definitely some protein coagulation from the yeast. Cloyingly sweet.

11.2oz from a beer club. Glowing golden pour, as if lit from within. Some haze in there from the yeasts, and a modest head. Faintly fruity aroma quickly gives way to a strong, sharp smell of hops. A pretender to the throne of Duvel? Most likely. I do enjoy this kind of style, but this brew is too heavy on the sweet malts, giving it a less than fully complex personality. That and the fairly thin mouthfeel makes it mostly a pass.

dwyerpg (6182) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - AUG 25, 2008
A light spice aroma. Looks great. The flavor has a good spiciness to it up front. A little alcohol in the finish. Nice light color; much more like a tripel to me. Tasty beer.

Great, clean beer with a good texture for such a light ale. Too bad my distributor has discontinued it... Enjoi!

sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - AUG 14, 2008
33cl bottle. It actually was the last bottle the bar had and could not get more due to the brewery going bankrupt. Pours golden with thin white head. Aroma is hoppy, yeasty lightly fruity. Taste was sweet, citrusy and yeasty. Found the beer to be extremelly sweet and complex.

Borresteijn (7057) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 8, 2008
Bottle & tap, several occasions. This is a personal favourite, one of the better "satanic" beers. Looks beautiful in its own glass, clear golden with a nice white head. Aroma of yeast and malts. Taste is sweet and hoppy, dry, yeasty, all very subtle. A bit of spices in there too. Highly drinkable. A bit softer than Duvel.
