A Belgian golden ale. On the nose it is lightly hoppy and yeastily spicy, with faint caramelly malt notes and a touch of citrusy and estery fruit. The head tastes extremely bitter, as is often the case with this style. Surprisingly fruity, but with a strong hoppy bitterness. There is a warming, malty, vanilla quality to it, which develops into an alcohol kick towards the end. Secondary fermentation in the bottle.

Bottle, bought @ Belgisk Bryg, Cph.
Pours pale yellow, good deal of bubbles. Small, frothy white head nice duration. Aroma is a bit metallic, some yeastiness and biscuity malts. Light citrusy. Fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely sweet, good maltiness. Still a lingering off-note of metal. Rather sweet and the metal doesn’t do it any favours.

Sammy (12762) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2006
Lots of lace, pure yeasty taste with some spiciness, corriander and pepper and citrus and fairly malted though not overly sweet, medium body, drying finish from sugar and aggressive carbonation. Somewhat astringent lemony mouthfeel otherwise Easy drink. Cole’s Belgium fest sample.

madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - JAN 4, 2006
Bottled: Paly yellow coloured. Hazy. Huge white head. Sweetness, yeast, fruit and a light sourness in the aroma. Has some perfume, yeast, sweetness, spice in the flavour. Has some wheat characters. Ends on a somewhat sweet note. Is dry and has give some warmth to lips and palate.

daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 7, 2009
Gold pour. Super malty aroma with some alcohol and yeast. Flavor is yeasty and fruity. warming as it goes down. Fruity and good.

hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 26, 2003
Clear, straw-colored brew. Frothy, white head with nice lacing. Low marks for aroma. LIGHT STRUCK! I can't believe a brown-bottled brew is skunked. Otherwise, the aroma is of coriander and yeast. Smells like a high ABV hefe. The flavor is well-balanced with warm alcohol, fuzzy fruit and banana. Full-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Long, spicy, alcoholic finish. Overall, not a bad brew. A good one, actually. My bottle was way off as I have tried, but not rated this beer previously!

faroeviking (11217) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - AUG 1, 2008
Botella, courtesy of Plovman. Unclear golden colour. Sweet yeasty and malty bit alcoh aroma. Good mouthfeel. The flavour has a soft fruity sweetness with yeast and malt along with a mild bitterness.

DocLock (11048) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 21, 2005
Bottle from The Epicurean. Pours a hazy shade of intense gold with a big, frothy, white head that lasts even through the repour. The aroma is heavy citrus, some candi sugar and barnyardy funk notes, and floral spiciness. The mouthfeel is lively but not dense, with flavors of spicy florals, citrus, some barnyard, and a dry finish.

Fin (10917) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2006
Bottle from Sainsburys. Clear golden colour, slight fruitiness detected and some yeatiness. Not bad but not up there with some of the better Belgian golden ales.

jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 13, 2003
Pours clear yellow body, with slightly hazy effervescent body and a good head. Aroma is spicey with strong yeast dominance. A sweetness becomes prominent and passes over the tongue quickly. Very dry bitter finish with hot alcohol notes.
