Rich, strong and malty ale with an intense vinous flavour of dried fruits. A fairly dry example of a style originating in the late 19th century.

Bottle. Hazy orange-amber colour. Aroma dried fruits, caramel, considerable English-style hops character. Taste is caramelly, light warm alcohol, dried fruits. Finishes earthy, grassy, hoppy. Good one, maybe a bit too hoppy for me.

Fľaša. Zlato - pomarančová farba, bez peny. Vôňa príliš alkoholová, sladká, ovocná a citrusová. V chuti ostrosť alkoholu, ovocné tóny, jemne sladké cukríky. Dochuť pikantná, alkoholová. Veľmi dlho cítiť na jazyku.

Unusually both light of touch yet with an empty end. Tightly filtered and chrystaline. Subdued flat apple and toffee notes. Spicy herbal quality too esp in the bouquet too. Good development in the glass over time.Rich, potent and fine.

[500ml bottle, Cornelius Beer and Wine] Amber beer with a decent white head. On the nose, ripe fruits, a touch of dark sugar, some apple. Tastewise there’s that classic Luckie richness, caramel and toffee, sticky fruit and bready sweetness. Lick of alcohol at the end. Good stuff [05022015]

Bottle. Aroma is sweet, Stille Nacht style. Dark fruity, boozy. Taste is good. Malty, sweet booziness, nice. Lost a bit as it warmed though.

Bottle. Golden with white head. Aroma of honey, caramel and something a little sharp. Taste of cereal, honey, grain, corn, caramel. Quite sweet and booze well masked.

Bottle shared at the Kernel tap room, London, thanks to Ben. It pours a hazy rich golden color with a medium white head. Aroma is quite sweet with toffee and ripe fruits. Taste is sweet with notes of ripe melon, candy sugar, molasses and light citrus. Minimal booze in the finish. Tasty overall

Scopey (15522) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2014
Bottle thanks to BenH. It pours hazy golden-amber with a medium Tellier-white head. The nose is rich, hot cross bun, honeyed grain, brioche, earth, pear drops, toasted sugar and fruit loaf. The taste is bitter-sweet, spicy, fruit cake, resin, earth, warming alcohol, rye bread, candied peel, musty and umami with a lingering, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Thankfully not overly sweet. Rich and decadent.
