Golden colour, big fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mild caramel, some nectar as well as some mild herbal notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, nectary, mild floral and herbal notes along with some sweet malts and mild yeastyness. Also a bit of alcohol sweetness coming through. Pleasant and balanced though.

Perhaps it was just the fact that this was the only beer on at the Hanging Bat the night I was in that wasn’t hopped to high heaven, but this was exceptional. Bettered only by the same brewery’s 56 shilling. A beauty.

50cl bottle. Pours cloudy orangey-brown with a generous head. The nose has salt, nuts and touch of cream. The taste has more salt and wheat with a nutty finish. The palate has more the texture and body of a Belgian Dubbel - very tangy and yeast dominated. There is also good hop bitterness. Overall, not sure this is a bitter but it is a good beer. 6 July 2012, bottle at cagarvie's legendary tasting. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is lots of honey, caramel. Med body and faintly fizzy. Lots of honey, caramel. Not that nice. Lots of sugar, nothing to balance, nothing exciting.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber orange with a big thick white head that doesn’t move, it certainly looks the part. Aroma is a tad thin, a little dusty, caramel comes through, some zest, light spicy pepperiness. Taste is very spicy, bit like a Belgian, very peppery, lots of deep caramel and a slight nuttiness. Fairly sweet with a long but well measured bitter finish. It’s very nice but not really my style stravale (3088) - Co. Westmeath, IRELAND - FEB 8, 2013

Caramel orange brown, hazy, thin white head with a touch of lacing
Aroma of caramel, soft smooth toffee malts, good nose
Taste of caramel malts, smooth fruity toffee, soft bitter hop, some raisin fruits, very mellow and smooth, alcohol very well hidden, super mellow flavour, great balance
Palate - Medium body, quiet oily, smooth caramel toffee on palate. Finish as main flavour with some toasted malt coming through
Overall - This was just so mellow, alcohol very well hidden, smooth, well balanced, very well made. One of the best strong ’brown’ bitters I’ve had - it comes to prove brown bitters can be done well.
In bottle. Pours a light golden colour with a fair white head. Aroma of lemon, grassy hops, yeast, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Lingering lemon and candy sugar. Nicely bitter.
