Tap at Hawthorne location - black pour with a sticky tan lace - a very slight mouthfeel - medium body - I have never tasted so much diacetyl in a stout before - very buttery - this overcomes the more pleasant notes of bittersweet chocolate and roast - lightly bitter finish, with lingering butter - meh. Tap at the brewery. Pours a nice black with a thin off white head. Roasted grain, chocolate aroma, slightly dry. Touch of caramel, hops, roasted grain and chocolate in the taste. Finishes a little roasty and dry. Nice. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 17, 2011
Tap @ The Lucky Lab Beer Hall... Poured near black with a thin, light tan head. A pretty dry stout with straight forward roast, chalky tones, some mold yeast esters, cocoa and coffee, oatmeal and barley sweetness. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - FEB 3, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Pours coal black with a light brown head. Has a malted chocolate aroma. This is a dry, but also a milky stout. It’s smooth with great thickness on a solid palate. The thick lacing walls the glass. I detect a really nice licorice flavor as well. This beer lies in the midpoint between a dry and a sweet stout.

On tap at the brewery. Colour... black with brown edges and no head. Nose... very faint malt roastiness. Palate... light bodied, roasty, dry, tangy, slightly musty, rather like a dry Irish stout. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 17, 2009
On tap early 2009. Smooth and lightly sweet. Light roast for a stout, with mostly chocolate tastes and just enough bittereness to balance. OK. troopie (2387) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - FEB 7, 2009
Draught at pub. Poured thick and black with thin tan head. Much lacing. Aroma of coffee in the morning, malt. Flavour of roast malt, black coffee, unsweetened chocolate and nuts. Lasting coffee finish. Sip this and order another one. ryanknock (150) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 19, 2009
A thick, roasty, robust and quite drinkable ale. Very flavorful, chocolate, dried fruits, caramel and a light nutty quality. It could be a bit thicker and less sweet, but it is still quite creamy due to the nitro tap. anders37 (26845) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 29, 2008
Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate flavor with some hints of coffee and licorice. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.
