Draft at the Quimby St. venue. Aroma of dark malt with citrus hop. Hazy brown amber color with a dissipating white head. Flavor is pruny dark fruit with bitter hop. Quite a nice barley wine. Clean finish. Good sipper. marcus (10571) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 5, 2014
On tap at Fredfest 2014. Pours reddish brown with a nice beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a full-bodied caramel malt flavor with lots of fruit and a bitter finish. Very tasty. dmac (6429) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - APR 1, 2008
2006 vintage shared at Cornboys Barley Wine Blind. Pours a clear reddish brown with a small light beige head. Aroma of citrus fruit and caramel, rather fruity aroma that is quite nice. Flavor of burnt caramel and bread. Finishes on the dry side but is a nice beer all around. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - MAR 11, 2006
[2006 Lucky Labrador Barley Wine & Big Beer Festival]
4oz Taster – A dark reddish amber color. A very light head but it was a good conditioned brew from 2004. Has taken on some unique qualities to the brew. Has a very sweet taste like strong ale would. The malts have taken a sour note but this might be me. I like this brew and hope to try next year as I want to see where it turns. Good Luck I hope it goes well.

Number 25 tasted out of a 28 bottle BW tasting. Poured a clear copper color with almost no head. Doughy aroma, light vinager, sweet toasted malt and mild alcohol. The flavor was a mix of malt, tart fruit, and mild hops. Light to medium bodied.

[Vintage 2007] Tap @ Barleywine and Big Beer Fest... Poured a dark amber/red with a thin off-white head. Lots of alcohol which created a distinct barleywine tone. Buttery malt with strong bitter hop and acidic flavors. A little punch in the finish which had some dried fruit in addition to the hops and malt. dasilky tasting, hophead84 bottle, 06. cool bottle and wax... Pristine example of a 3 year old barleywine. Pours murky with a tan ring. Nose is hoppy still. Taste is sweet and hoppy, pretty damn good 3 years out. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JAN 28, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2005 1999 vintage at the Lucky Lab barleywine fest. I won’t use this score due to the wild turn this brew took while aging. This 5 year old version turned very acidic and winey, almost vinigar and sour finish.
This 2003 vintage barleywine pours a dark mahogany, very clear, with a thin white head. The aroma sets this beer up to be a big ol sweet barleywine, lots of brown sugar, caramel, prune, and hints of chocolate in the aroma. The taste wasn’t nearly as big on the sweet side as I was expecting, sweet up front but finishing quickly bitter with a long tail of bitter hops fading into the distance. Still a very nice barleywine that will probably continue to improve greatly with age. willblake (2654) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - DEC 7, 2008
20080329 Blind tasting notes and score from Cornboy 2nd annual Barleywine Extravaganza. Citrus fruit hops, sweet, chuckles candy, light tartness, and then I cannot read the rest of my notes... DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 13, 2009
2006: Pours a hazed petrified amber, thin sheet of froth. Smells nicely oxidized with crystallized hop bitterness balancing things out..piney with ribbon candy sweetness. Flavors are still full and nice, candy-ish...nicely still bitter..no faults..nicely aged goodness that doesn’t seem to have lost much of anything, just nicely nice.
