Pours black wit a thin beige head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a chocolate flavor with a bit of licroice and a dry finish. Ok for an airport beer, but not anything special. troopie (2320) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - NOV 8, 2010
Draught. Poured black with thin beige head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is alcohol, bourbon barrel and roast malt. Medium to full body, with more caramel from the barrel. Polished finish. Incidently, the pub said this has a 9.0 per cent alcohol content, but is under the same name. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 4, 2008
From a 22oz. bottle--Poured a thick, dark brown-black body with a wispy whitish head. Nose of raosted malts and bourbon. Mild bodied beer, but the bourbon kicks it up a little. Creamy oaken flavors reside in finish. Some chocolate and dry vanilla in there, too. Great litlle brew! 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 5, 2007
Bottle: Super dark brown, moderate foamy beige head, sparce lacing.   After a while it almost looks still.   Roasty nose,
earthen, slight Bourbon and oak, maybe even a little ash and/or campfire.   Somewhat sweet on the tongue, mellow roastiness, low hop
profile, soft Bourbon, fleeting hints of vanilla and oak.   Seems to become more chalky/dry as time goes on.   Very mild porter.
Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering cocoa on the finish.   Not a big Porter at all, and the Bourbon aspect is very
minor as well, probably for the better.   Not as juicy as I thought it would be, but still enjoyable. fuyajo (229) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 15, 2007
Less than 200 bottles produced. Aged in whiskey barrels. Chocolatey aroma, and lots of lacing. Taste is strong, with lingering tastes of cherry or fruit of some kind. Bitter aftertaste lingers. Very complex flavors; I can’t put my finger on some of them. As the beer warms up, there are hints of whiskey.

On tap at the Hawthorne pub. Dark brown body with a tan head. This beer was a bit lighter on the palate, nice roasty flavors show, but feels thin overall. The oaked flavor comes through a bit in the finish adding a light dryness to it. Nice experiment from the Lucky Lab. zathrus13 (1776) - Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA - DEC 9, 2006
Dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark fruit, and chocolate. Flavors are chocolate and roasted malt, with lesser amounts of fruit and wood. Body is thin to medium. Thanks to DA for this bottle. raphael (1239) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 11, 2006
great dark mahogany color with moderate light brown foam. I smell marshmallows, alcohol and sawdust. warming comes on quickly, but I’m not sure what a bourbon barrel does for a beer. the texture is light. slips effortlessly over the tongue. taste of dark cherry, dark malt, caramel, a bitter coffee bottom.
