On tap and snifter served at the Lunar Brewing Co. bar, showing a murky, brown color, with a modest layer of rapidly diminishing, off white head foam, but good cling to the ribbons & streaks of lacing. The nose was immediately bourbon, then barrel induced notes of coconut & vanilla, with a substantially sweet scent. Full bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste was alcohol, then malt sweetness that was near syrupy, and a low, somewhat lingering, earthy, rindy, & tanniny bitterness. Definitely lost most of itís striking, IPA character in the barrel. Maybe some later dry-hopping would have given it some pop. Possesses more of a boozy, barleywine nature to it now, which isnít really all that unwelcome for many of the patronís abv tastes.
