On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of citrus and grapefruit that work together well and a backbone of light resin and grain. Flavor starts with citrus and a bit of flora with a growing pine note and a grain backbone. tmoreau (4295) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - SEP 3, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2012 I guess that Charlie felt that the initial name of Abbey IPA needed a bit more punch. The beer itself definitely doesn’t. Just recently presented on tap at the brewpub, and served to a shaker with a bright and clear, coppery color, an off white bubbles & cream head, and nice persistence to the band of curtainy lacing. The aroma started with a resiny scent, then expanded to include some tropical fruit, and melon notes. The flavor added it’s own set of notes as grapefruit, pineapple, and some estery sweetness. The hop signature was a medium+ bite that lingered nicely into the finish. Well carbonated, with the medium body and light sweetness also allowing this brew to be refreshingly sessionable.
