An easy drinking lager brewed using all Munich malt and Cascade hops. A fantastic brew. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Sample pour on tap at the brewpub (Villa Park, IL). Pours a lightly hazed golden orange hue, a gentle haze, fiery sunny edges with a decent frothy offwhite head, dies to a decent ring and laces ok. Aromas are some crisp cereal grains, bread, pale malts, and dry light bread yeast. Touches of grass and floral hops, mild with gentle spice, yeast, touch of biscuits. Initial is lighter bodied, with a touch more girth, gentle cereal grains, bread, some gentle toast, florals and grass. Mild and simple, yet tasty. Fairly clean, middle shows more grassy and floral hop elements, cleans the beer up a bit with some gentle spicy hop elements, Munich malts on display. Finish is lingering light malty qualities, dry grass and florals, gentle spice. Clean, well flavored, and efficient. Fresh. Pretty nice Pils style from Lunar here. tmoreau (4514) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2011
On tap at the brewpub, and served unusually cold, at this sitting, to a shaker with a clear & bright, golden/amber color, and very modest, off white, diminishing head foam and lacing. A somewhat inconspicuous aroma, probably due to the temperature and light carbonation, but picked up light hints of yeast, malt, and grain. The flavor presented a nice complement of malt and peppery dry hop bitterness. Although softly carbonated, the body held up to medium stature without thinning out, was crisp on the palate, and finished with a pleasant dryness. More character than a typical Pale Lager, almost Vienna-like, but limited by the site’s labels. Nicely sessionable!
