2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sample (from bag in box?) at Reading Beer Festival on 28 April 2011. Big honey and nougat throughout. Described as "slightly drier" but it seemed pretty sickly sweet to me. Which, I guess, highlights my problem with most of the sweet meads - just not my thing. Slight "plastic" edge to the aroma too.
June 2016 - Bottle share at the festival of non-beer and cheesecake, Watford. As ’Lyme Bay West Country Mead’, 14.5%. Clear orange, still, small foamy white head, dotted lacing. Aroma is Manuka honey, general honeys, some musty and papery notes. Body is smooth, oily, low carbonation. Taste is honey cough syrup, throat lozenges, some booze showing up, musty linger. Decent mead. (3.5) Scopey (14731) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2016
Bottle at the Watford tasting thanks to Sarah & Fergus. It pours clear rich gold with a few bubbles on the cap. The aroma is sweet, fresh, honey, fruit pie & ice-cream, nectarine and pear tart tatin. The taste is bitter - sweet, juicy, honey action, toffee, oily, fruit pie, nectarine, candy and some warming alcohol. The finish is deceptively smooth. Medium body, light carbonation and slick, oily mouth-feel. Drinks pretty easy. Rather decent. mR_fr0g (12119) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2016
Bottle shared at the Watford Tasting / BBQ. A viscous golden orange coloured pour. Aroma is earthy honey, jarred honey, some spicy alcohol, brambles, caramel. Flavour is composed of sweet earthy honey, warming alcohol, sugary. Pronounced honey character. Palate is very sweet sugary, lowish carbonation. jjsint (3105) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2016
Bottle courtesy of my ex-wife. Dark gold, clear. Gluey aroma with some honey and caramel. Lovely sweet and spicy taste. Weakish body but nice spicy sour finish. Better than I thought it would be. ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2015
Bottle from wine stand next to the Utobeer stand in Borough Market, London. Pours a clear golden body. Nose is sweet syrupy tones, alcohol, dark honey, floral perfumy notes and hints of caramel sauce, rose water and beeswax. Taste is sweet syrup up front, then caramel, alcohol, forest honey, beeswax and floral hints of rose water, perfume and nuts. Sweet and strong with loads of boozy floral tones, this is a traditional mead all right, but a bit too flowery and sharp around the edges for what I’m usually looking for in such versions. Decent enough though.

750ml ; This juice has a high boost @ 14 % going for it and is pretty good ; The nose on this jet-fuel is honeycomb , sugar , flowers , spice ,syrup perfume ; Flat and golden liquid but shit it looks gloopy and fat ; Dranks way, way rich , cloying , waxy and sickly but its pretty pleasant - soothingly creamy . Honey and floral syrup . ! I was skeptical about this for some reason and that is my nature but this Mead is a pretty smooth thang ! HenrikSoegaard (14176) - Randers, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2013

light gold colour. aroma is of honey and flowers. tastes extremely sweet and finishes dry. StueyD (1583) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2012
Deep amber gold colour. Very floral perfumed aroma, violet and hyacinth, and soapy. Full and rich mouthfeel. Rich honeyed flavour. Again the floral element comes through with Parma violets, plus a touch of aniseed spice. Full flavoured finish. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Setchey, Norfolk.
