Bottle , Ship & Mitre bottle shop, West Kirby. Black pour with a fading light brown head. Sweetish nose of dark choc alongside some roast. Fullish mouthfeel, leading to a flavour of dark fruits, burnt malts and a little smoke. Some bitterness towards the finish. Nice one.

Bottled (backlog). More or less black colour with a small slightly off-white creamy head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, some rye bread and mild liquorice as well as wooden ntoes. Flavour is liquorice, chocolate, roasted malts, some wood as well as mild floral notes.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Beer Festival 2016. Extremely dark with a notable strength, although there’s a good, smoothish roasted malt aroma and taste to enjoy, but is a little on the overbearing side after a while.

Bottle. Rich, roasty, lots of non-fermented character. Nice and chewy! Thick and oily with plenty of depth. Only real criticism is the dry finish.

Butelka 500ml. Czarny nieprzezroczysty kolor. Piana palona, srednia o lekko kremowej konsystencji opada dosc szybko. Aromat czekolady, palonych ciemnych slodow, karmelu, kakao i ciemnych owocow lesnych. W smaku delikatne, alkohol dobrze ukryty, dosc slodkie. Dominuje czekolada ale nie gorzka, palone slody ,kawa, kakao i owoce (czarna porzeczka).

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2016 Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A deep brown to black colour with a frothy tan head. Aroma of raisin, sultana, liquorice, some coffee, slight roasted malts, a little chocolate and subtle spicy blackberry. Taste of raisin, sultana, other dark fruits, liquorice, roasted malts, some coffee, slight chocolate, a little black pepper, weird leathery taste and subtle herbal hops. Full bodied and an oily texture. A dry, leathery, dark fruit bitterness in the finish. Quite a boozy stout, very fruity. Subtle roastiness and hop too. Not sure if I like it or not. May have to try again somewhere else.............................................. Pours a deep brown to black colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, bready malts, raisin, sultana, some spice, slight blackberry, a little coffee and subtle molasses. Taste of roasted malts, liquorice, raisin, sultana, spice, some brown bread, slight chocolate, a little coffee and subtle spicy, herbal hops. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A long, roasted, spicy fruit bitterness in the finish. Like on cask, it’s a boozy stout with lots of fruit and spice as well as subtle roastiness and a light hop presence. Found this more refined and more enjoyable from the bottle.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is an inky black beer that pours with no head. It has a rich liquorice and chocolate flavour, nutty and coffee notes followed by ginger and blackberry on the roasted finish. Excellent!

minutemat (5938) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2015
500ml bottle from Beer Me Up Scotty, Shrewsbury. Pours dark. Nice thick liquorice malt nose. Taste continues with leather, earth and coffee coming through. Not bad.
