Scopey (14502) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2015
Cask at Three Judges. It pours near black with a thick off-white head. The nose is toasty, earthy, mild smoke, liquorice and sweet roast. The taste is tangy dark malt & acidity upfront, blackcurrant, jammy fruit compote, spicy, charred wood, burnt action and chewy malt with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Aroma is decent, but its tastes infected. Tangy and charry. Not great at all.

Cask at The Land of Liberty in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire on 14 July 2013. Poured a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma or dark chocolate and roasted malt. Disappointingly watery mouth feel. Initial sweet flavours of dark fruit. Palate has some nice burnt malt and coffee bitterness.

Theydon_Bois (19192) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 19, 2012
Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Light shade of black - dark mahogony brown in the light with a bubbly tan head. Light roast malt on the nose, a little toffee and hints of liquorice. Taste follows nose pretty much spot on. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation leading to a dry finish.

worldbeertaste (1805) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 3, 2012
Vey thin watery body. Black with a brown tint and a lasting thin frothy tan head. Smell of roasted malt, cofee and chocolate. A little flowery. Roasted sweet start, bitter chocolate middle. And a smooth finish. Rasin and fruitiness. Not bad.

Cask, Leicester Fest 10. Dark brown with a beige head. Aromas are malty and oaty with light roast coffee. Flavours are chocolate and coffee malts with oat notes. Some berry fruitiness with a fruity sweetness. A bit flat but OK.

imdownthepub (14448) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2010
Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Festival, Fleetwood, Lancs. Black with tan head. Straight off into a really smooth velvety beer, lovely tarry flavours but with a balancing fruity background. A really pleasant stout, good stuff.
