DietPepsican (1589) - @ $13.99, Iowa, USA - DEC 19, 2012
I don’t even know. What’s up with the ice minus the label? Well, more bitter, less grape, and just rougher. I have no idea what’s going on anymore.

Pours a golden color. Smell is of grains, plastics. Taste is grains, green apples, a touch of malts. Overall your average cheap lager.

M-X Ice High Gravity Malt Liquor has a thick, white, quickly-dissipating head and a clear, yellow appearance, with lots of bubbles streaming up, and little-to-no lacing. The aroma is mostly water, with some sweetness and some grains. Taste is, again, water and sweetness (really this drink’s major characteristic), with a grape soda undertaste and even some hop bitterness thrown in, as a matter of course. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and M-X Ice finishes surprisingly crisp and refreshing. All of its characteristics scream, "I’m NOT a malt liquor." This is the most non-malt liquor malt liquor I’ve ever sampled. It’s much more similar to a lighter-than-average regular American-style lager. Weird. It’s okay, which is a surprise, because I was expecting the worst. RJT

24oz can, labeled black with HGL sticking out. Aroma of cooked corn on the cob. Deep gold color. Flavor is not pleasant, not bad either. Smooth mouth feel. Much better than the sister Crazy Stallion. Good if I had a bad day and just go back to my single wide and kill myself. Try M-X and kill yourself.

Appearance: Burps out a clear, yellow body with a foamy, white head. Smell: Seriously, why do I continue to subject myself to these things? Aroma of countertop cleaner, corn, one chicken bouillon cube, and those malt liquor floral hints that just smell fake and unearthy, like they were hastily cooked up in a lab. Taste: Off-puttingly sweet corn and chemi-floral flavors. Light alcohol throughout -- thankfully none of the sharp rubbing alcohol taste you find in these things. Another mouthful of corn nibs for the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: This was all kinds of awful, even for a malt liquor.

for some reason i prefer steel reserve over m-x.... its still strong beer to get wasted on thats one extra point :P

Can. Pours a surprisingly deep gold with a head that crawls up the glass like a 1-year-old along a kitchen floor. Flavor is a watery apple cider. Weird. Palate is watery, too. I guess I would kill more of these if I only had homies to share it with. Sigh.

SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - APR 26, 2006
In the 24 oz master cylinder from the QuickTime in Platte City MO. This wicked little indulgence has an amoeboid whitye head that threatens to crawl as it has so much motion. Pale gold in color. CORN. There’s a lot of sweetness to the flavor. Maybe a cross between apple juice and a glucose tolerance test. The palate is existent, but it escapes taxonomy. It leaves behind a couple of BB dots of lacing, just to let you know that it is not water. The remarkable thing about this beer is the apple flavor. It is not crap, but it is very likely sinful to drink this stuff.

Dark yellow color with no head. Same sour aroma I get from pretty much every malt liquor. Hmmm... this one tastes even more sour and trashed corn than most. Ugh.
