COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(translated) Ludwig Bayer has since 1878 been in Mack’s portfolio, and is a beer type that originates from Bayern in Germany. With considerable elements of dark malt types Ludwig Bayer is our darkest beer with a delightful dark color. This is a copious beer with a fine sweetness. With a mild element of hops Ludwig Bayer gets a light bitterness in the end. Enjoy this beer by 8 - 10 degrees C, preferably from a glass. Ludwig Bayer can be enjoyed with medium strong meat dishes or as a thirst extinguisher with good friends.

Editor’s note: Formerly known as Mack Ludwig Premium Bayer

500ml can picked up from the local Kiwi shop in Tromso. Pours deep brown, tan head. Aroma bears some caramel traces. Taste is not as bad as expected, smooth with brown sugar, sweet malts, faint treacle and liquorice notes.

Donker bier van deze noordelijkste brouwerij. Geur: beetje bokbierachtig. Smaak: karamel, gebrande mout en wat bitter. Niet bijzonder, maar wel prima!

Flaske 0.33L på deck 9 på MS Midnattsol. Farge klar mørk brun/rødbrun med lyst beige skum. Lukt malt, røstet malt. Smak malt, karamell. Lett bitterhet. En god bayer

2.7
Nonshaugen (613) - Fetsund, NORWAY - MAR 11, 2016
50 cl can. Pours a deep copper to mahogany colour, thick tan coloured head, nice level of carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, nuts an acid apples. Mouthfeel is medium carbonation and dry. Flavours pretty much as the aroma, just less nuts and more green apples. Which don’t make any sense in a Bavarian.

adamnowek (2723) - Brussels, BELGIUM - OCT 25, 2015
Deep brown with a thin but creamy head. Malty aroma. Taste of caramel and brown sugar.

2.4
Smaskifa (136) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 6, 2015
Caramel flavor. Decent frothy head. The aroma is vaguely caramel-dominated, some light bitterness, malts. The beer itself is pretty light and refreshing, no big surprises, just a basic Norwegian bayer with the usual hints of caramel, malts and a very small kick of hops. A certain hint of apple as well. It’s not a super beer in any way, but way more drinkable than a lager when the options are few. Try it with home made pizza (made at Bardu hotell), it enhances the flavor of the beer several notches and brings some of the alcohol forward.

2.8
Leini (2056) - SWEDEN - APR 25, 2015
330ml bottle. Brown body with a lowwhite head. Caramel, some nutty flavors and a dash of herbal notes. Light palate.
