Aroma of vanilla and chocolate malt. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Nice sweetness similar to a milk stout with hints of dark roasted coffee, cream, and vanilla.

Found this beer to be a little to sweet. The first one went down nice, the more you drank the more you were able to notice the sweetness in the beer. I would not say don't try it but keep in mind the after about 2 it starts to jump out at you. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a heavy "A" drink, straight out of the bucket into the the bread box, no compromises. Its velvety sweetness brings life back to the funeral. The aroma alone turns wilted hibiscus into erect typha plant, puts hair on ya grandmama’s chest, builds the pyramids. Yes, the three big ones at Giza. Walks, hell, runs on the moon. Wow, I need to sit down for a sec.

Pours black with a frothy tan head. Nose is bready with notes of chocolate and a hint of anise. Taste is sweet and follows the nose. Like a creamy chocolate shake. Hint of hop comes through in the aftertaste. Mild and tasty brew.

From old tasting notes. Blackish brown color with a huge foamy brown head. Sweet roasted malt aroma like molasses. Sweet roasted malt palate, chocolaty and rich. Very lightly carbonated. Scant little hops. Smooth with a decent firm body. Sweet malty finish and aftertaste. Quite good.

12oz bottle, pours deep, almost black mahogany, tilted glass reveals deep dark red against an illuminated background. Creamy, sweet, cherry soda, barley wine, burgundy wine, licorice, chocolate, complex. Nice gift from Barn of Truck Stop Aliens.

2015 BJCP Category: 16A Sweet Stout

AROMA: General sweet aroma; some diacetyl. Not very pungent 7/12

APPEARANCE: Black virtually opaque body. Very large, dark tan frothy head. Excellent retention. 3/3

FLAVOR: Akin to chocolate-flavored cola. Sweet dairy flavor consistent in the background. Some diacetyl on the finish, but not distracting - offers a slight butterscotch or creme brulee taste. Hops seem to have faded. Roasty flavor in the aftertaste. Enjoyable, though a fresh serving might be excellent. 16/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium+ body; smooth, creamy texture. Slight tinny sensation on the finish. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Considering the brewery, the style and the fact this is probably an old bottle makes this an impressive beer. 8/10

TOTAL SCORE: 38/50
