(On tap) Courtesy of yalnikim. Clear, golden with a small, white, lacing head. Good, malty aroma with a whiff of flowers. Medium body with lightly sweet malt and flower notes and a fairly hoppy finish. 310108 mutant (854) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 5, 2008
Deep gold with a decent head. Slight hoppy aroma. Rather bland again without much hops for me. My palate just expects more oomph. Oh and a point off for the frustrating ring-pull cap. NoiZe (2322) - Zeist, NETHERLANDS - JAN 16, 2008
I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon. Visited the brewery too.

Very hoppy as the name would suggest. Fruity and a bit bitter.
Straw colour. Low carbonation. Short but rocky head. Lightly vinous nose with a herbal accent. Light bitterness with seabreezey notes. Interesting brew, but could do with a bit more substance. TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 11, 2007
Draught, a clear gold with a white frothy head. A fruity hop aroma. A good level of hopping, allowing the fruit flavours to come though and not becoming too dry.

Sampled on Flashy’s tour of LA, New Zealand and Hong Kong of September/October 2007 - This is an interesting and good effort at a German Pilsner from Mac’s. Hoppy, citrusy and bitter - a spirited effort and very drinkable. Stew41 (2066) - Phuket, THAILAND - SEP 2, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2007 Really impressive due to the awesome hop treatment that leaves such a strong impression right through the palate. Big herbal / nettle hit early followed up with a grainy, wheat-like character. The obvious peer is the Wanaka Brewski but I think this is a better beer.mpeve (28) - Bolwarra, AUSTRALIA - JUL 21, 2007

Massive white fizzy head settles quickly. Light golden amber on colour, quite boring actually. Herbal nose with cut grass, pongy, faint spices with tropical fruit and faint passionfruit. Palate and flavours had mixed results. More herbal notes with sweetish fruits but I could also pick a ’off’ flavour of stale bread. I’m probably being a bit harsh given it was so faint but just enough to distract me. Notwithstanding a fairly tidy drop.
Passsionfruit aromas, golden colour with a medium white head. Hop flavours and a medium bitterness. A really fruity beer, perfect for a session on a hot summer’s day highlandlad (1480) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - JUL 19, 2007
Another of the light, fruity pilseners that the Kiwis do so well. It’s certainly not as "big" as the name suggests - more of a crooner than a rocker. Lucid gold with a dollop of foam. Classic NZ tropical fruit aroma - bit soapy, bit green, with strong passionfruit and gooseberry. Couldn’t smell the crystal malt, which I’d take as a positive with this style. Soft mouthfeel. Lovely restrained tropical fruit flavours, with the hops working in harmony with the malts, rather than competing for attention. Perhaps a little crude and grainy but redeemed by those lovely NZ hops. Moderate bitterness for a bright, refreshing finish. This is very sessionable and perfect summer drinking. The best of the few Macs I’ve had to date but that may change with a trip to NZ in a month or two. I liked this a lot. (330ml bottle from Vintage Cellars, Clovelly. Poured a very pale hue, aroma was light but, in a way, intense hop character. Thin but flavoursom body. Finish was very dry, leaving an almost grapey flavour followed by a strong refreshing bitterness. I love these Sauvin hops.
