Mcs used to be the best in the country. Now they have optimised the beers (for profit) and closed the original brewery, though they still claim to be "Nelson Based". This beer is still pretty good compared to whats available in most bottle shops, compared to Montieths the Macs brand has lost less flavour and tastes less macro. Not very bitter but well balanced the Saaz and toasty malt work well together to create something that lets you know its beer.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2017 On tap at the Last Kitchen in Fox Glacier. Malt profile is pretty decent, but there’s not much beyond that. Biscuits, toffee, little dried fruit. Drinkable but not the best.

A hoppy nose, with notes of malt and hazel nut. Pours an amber copper color and a short lasting white head. A transient bitter taste with hazel nut and hoppy notes. A nutty hop finish.

canadiankiwi (149) - NEW ZEALAND - AUG 31, 2015
Copper colour. Nice taste, refreshing and slightly bitter. Fruity aroma and taste. Not to shabby

beer-yum (2003) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 13, 2015
Restrained flowery aroma in a copper pour. Nicely balanced taste with clean bitter finish. Not bad for a mass market beer - and one of the best from this brewery.
