COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich, amber hue and full-bodied flavor begin with roasted, domestic caramel malt. Its sweetness is then tempered with genuine Cascade hops, which are added again at the end of the boil for a distinctive, citric-floral aroma.

Clear amber with a white head. Medium sweet malt with light toast. The malt is well balanced by medium citrus hops. Very easy drinking. Flavorful and enjoyable.

On tap at Portland Brewing, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out dry bready malt and very light restrained hopping. Flavour is identical, very clean and easy-drinking, but uninspiring. Bready malt, a touch of caramel and light hop resins. Decently made.

22 oz bottle in Oregon. Deep amber colored body with an excellent head. More hops than malts in both the aroma and the flavor. Mildly bitter. Fruity hops with a faint bready background. Medium-light body.

22-ounce bottle poured into a pilsner glass. This particular bottle was listed as Portland Brewing MacTarnahans Amber Ale, with the Portland Brewing standing out much more than the rest of it.

On tap. Pours a clear amber with a creamy tab head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of straw and hay with a bit of sweet grain underlying. Flavor has lots of straw with a bit of hay and a hint of grains backing.

Poured out of a 22oz bottle a slightly hazy copper with a light head. The aroma is light, sweet and fruity. The low bitterness adds some weight on your tongue, and I swear I taste apricots. Too mellow for my tastes, but a better than average amber.

Bottle. A: Cloudy amber color with an off-white head. Lacing. N: Biscuit, earth, pine, peppercorn, cracker, damp leaves. Hint of grapefruit. T: Heartily bitter. Some sweetness. Surprisingly hearty. M: Creamy, medium body. Light carbonation. No alcohol burn. O: Surprisingly bitter amber ale. Not too shabby if not totally complex.
