Slightly clear deep brown coloured body with a bright ruby and violet glow and a thick, four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toffee, cream, malt and some very subdued alcohol notes. Medium-bodied; Deep bittering malt flavours with tons of nuts and a light sweetness. Aftertaste has the faintest amount of spices, some light sugars and a bitter malt flavour that persists. Overall, a decent beer, but not complex nor pungent enough to be good. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Made in Oregon in Portland (PDX Airport - Terminal D) for US$1.99 on 08-December-2013 sampled at home in Washington on 04-February-2014. Had this at the RB Pgh Halloween Spook-tacular Tasting/Drunkfest fall 2013, nice time at Hornydevil’s place, thanks James & Michelle! And this bottle was courtesy of douglass88. Looks a little dark but not black. Its a little strong overall. Smells a little malty. Mild to the olfactory. Yes, noble like my friend doug and scott like me, I’m one quarter. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - NOV 6, 2013
Growler. Clear deep amber tiny off white head. Aroma of toffee, dried fruit, dough and alcohol. Flavor is sweet and malty, caramel and fruit with very light smoke. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not too bad. Arayaga2 (2197) - portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 25, 2013
Ruby brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is mild, nutty caramel. Taste is the same, and rather neutral for style.

Sweet, bread crust, fruity aroma; a little bit of smoke. Similar flavors--but the fruitiness (cherry/apple) is much more prominent. Some caramel malt flavor, too. jeffs515 (123) - Ogden, Utah, USA - SEP 11, 2013

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice Amber ale light with Scottish caramel flavors. This was just too light for me. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - NOV 6, 2012
From bottle. Pleasing nutty flavor and deep brown ale aftertaste. Tastes better several weeks after buying. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Bottle:   Deep amber, moderate frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Sweet bready nose, slightly nutty and biscuity.   Not as sweet on the tongue, remains bready and nutty.   A bit toasted, subtle campfire.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Plain finish, soft toasted malt, nuttiness, with a bit of sweet breadiness.   No real peat, and the subtle campfire is gone by this time.   Lighter example of the style.   Decent, but needs to be a bit more complexity.
