12 oz bottle into Trappist glass (couldn’t find proper glassware). Aroma is roasted malt, coffee. Pours brownish-black with little head and average lacing. Taste is sweet, then bitter. Carbonation is medium. A little watery. A very tasty porter, but nothing outstanding. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Brown pour. Nice toasty and roasty aroma with lots of coffee, ash, char, ashpalt and some molasses. Flavor is smooth, roasty, ashy, and bitter chocolate. bpreo (2986) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - OCT 18, 2011
A Porter from Portland disguised as a Winter Ale. Too bad it’s only mid-October. Ah hell, it’s my 800th beer rating, Merry Christmas! Shink (177) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Out of the bottle from Fred Meyer. Pours a dark black color with a foamy tan head. Smells of roasted malt. Extreme roasted flavor that is perfect for a cold fall day. Pretty solid winter beer for the price. Sledutah (7937) - Utah, USA - OCT 21, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2011 12oz bottle picked up at the state store

Appearance: Pours a clear dark brown with a small beige head and light spotty lacing
Aroma: Toasted malts, roasted coffee and chocolate
Taste: Toasted malts, roasted coffee, grainy, sweet caramel with a light bitterness in the finish
A nice, easy drinking porter.
The malts in this porter resemble a slightly more burnt version of Guinness Stout. Smooth, very dark and light carbonation Crit (4065) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 3, 2012
Cola color,small lasting tan head.Nose of light roast,dark fruits.Sweet start,plums/dates in mid,light roastiness. Medium lasting hop finish anderson01 (357) - Spirit Lake, Idaho, USA - JAN 7, 2012
Black in color with a creamy, frothy, tan head. Chocolate malts and a nutty aroma. Chocolate, coffee and a hint of spice are in the taste. Slick texture with light carbonation. Medium-bodied beer with an abrupt finish. This beer was much better than I expected. Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 14, 2012
Single bottle purchased from a small independent in Hanalei, Kaua’i on 04/10/2012. Colour: Dark dark brown, close to black. Medium dark head. Nose: Lots of tar and rubber. Smoke eventually comes through....and some petrol late. A regular automobile! Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. Sour candy entrance then settles into meat char. Mid palate has some soft caramel and then more late toasted char. Rough nose but smartens up after. mtwhitney (168) - Maui, Hawaii, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Fizzy, but who cares, since it seems that this beer is no longer brewed. At least I cannot find it listed on the brewer’s website, although it is hard to tell who brews it anymore because of all the different owners recently. Bah. Love the insane Portland hop-head depicted on the bottle.
