The malts in this porter resemble a slightly more burnt version of Guinness Stout. Smooth, very dark and light carbonation

Black in color with a creamy, frothy, tan head. Chocolate malts and a nutty aroma. Chocolate, coffee and a hint of spice are in the taste. Slick texture with light carbonation. Medium-bodied beer with an abrupt finish. This beer was much better than I expected.

Single bottle purchased from a small independent in Hanalei, Kaua’i on 04/10/2012. Colour: Dark dark brown, close to black. Medium dark head. Nose: Lots of tar and rubber. Smoke eventually comes through....and some petrol late. A regular automobile! Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. Sour candy entrance then settles into meat char. Mid palate has some soft caramel and then more late toasted char. Rough nose but smartens up after.

Fizzy, but who cares, since it seems that this beer is no longer brewed. At least I cannot find it listed on the brewer’s website, although it is hard to tell who brews it anymore because of all the different owners recently. Bah. Love the insane Portland hop-head depicted on the bottle.

(draft at brewery). Very dark body. Almost black. Small oatmeal-ly head. If you want a nice dark beer that isn’t heavy this would be a good choice.

SuzyGreenberg (1604) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 2, 2010
12 oz. bottle - pours thin, dark brown with 2" foamy tan head settling slowly and some lacing remains; quite a beauty to look at; light aromas of bakers chocolate, espresso, berries and a little nutmeg-ish spice; very light texture with mild flavors of roasted chocolate, dry spice, ashy branches and a little fruit; very thin and almost watery going down; choco powder and dry chocolate; starts out with potential and decent flavor base, but just crazy light and watery
