Rated on 4-18-2011 at Mad Anthony Brewing Company. This draft beer has a medium sized ivory head with a short retention, opaque orange brown body, no carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, pine and citrus hops. The taste is floral, citrus, pine hops and light roasted malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. The hops are upfront but not over the top. This beer is very quaffable with a modest lingering hoppy aftertaste. It is worth trying. hollardustin (330) - Indiana, USA - JAN 27, 2012
On tap at Mad Anthony in Warsaw, IN. Pours a dark brownish color with small off white head. Aroma is citrus, pine, and roasted malts with a hint of sweetness. The taste is hoppy, roasted malt, and sweetness with faint notes of butterscotch on the back end. Not perfect by any means but a very drinkable brew. Sample at Twenty Tap in Indianapolis. This beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, piney hops and citrus. Medium body with a well-balanced interplay of sweet bready malt and floral hops. Some pine and fruit notes as well. The finish is malty at first with a moderately bitter hops aftertaste. Pretty good Black IPA overall. patrick767 (4130) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 24, 2011
draft at the Ft Wayne brewpub - Pours near black with a small light tan head. The aroma of of floral and citrus hops with a touch of roast malt in the background. The flavor is full of citrus hops though there’s also lots of sweet roast malt to balance it. There are lingering citrus and floral hops notes and roast character in the finish. It’s not as overwhelmingly hop heavy as many IIPA but it’s very good.
