COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bent Bim Black is brewed with imported malts from Barberg, Germany including pilsener malt, Munich malt and a special "Caracas malt" which delivers a rich black color and a smooth roasted flavour without the bitter bite. Two additions of the spicy Tettnang hops gives Bent Rim its remarkable balance. The brew is finished with a long cool fermentation by a traditional German strain of bottom fermenting later yeast. Bent Rim is a medium bodied dark beer with an unexpected light crisp aftertaste or a lager.

Sample at the Ft. Wayne brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a medium creamy light beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing. Roast malt, hops and a bit of coffee in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of toasty malt, earthy hops and coffee. The finish is sweet with a roasted malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at Mad Anthony. Straightforward brown chocolate notes. Sweet, sort of sugary. Too thick. Crystal malt caramel. Almost OK?

tap at the Fort Wayne brewpub (Mar 10, 2012) - Pours dark brown with a huge light tan head and heavy lacing. It smells of roast malt and coffee. The flavor is of sweet roast malt, some coffee, and mild bitterness. It’s a rather light bodied brew that was better the 2nd time I had it when it wasn’t following a sour ale. Drinking order matters!

On tap at Mad Anthony in Warsaw, IN. Pours a dark brown with a creamy off white head. The aroma is roast, smoke, burning leaves. The taste is light sweetness, smoke, roast, and a dry finish. It’s ok but nothing special.
