This is a good brew from Mad Anthony’s. I just tried it for the first time last Monday. I even brought me a growler of it. The selection that the brew isn’t all great, but I did enjoy this. Dark brown with no head. Malty and smooth. Coffee taste and a hint of cream is what you’ll experience while this goes down. Enjoy!

Tap at MA. Charcoal, coffee, and dark chocolate aroma. Midnight black with small head. Dark chocolate/coffee malt flavor with a light charcoal finish. Nice flavor - a bit light.

Pint at the brewpub. Good looking beer, BLACK with a nice, tan, creamy head. Scents of roasted malts and coffee. Decent consistency, as it is as creamy as it looks. Notes of coffee, malt, and roasted nuts with a smooth finish. Pretty good stout from the locals.

half pint at MA - Aroma is mild roasted malts and coffee. Pours black with a small head and decent lacing. Flavor is a stronger version of aroma. Palate is creamy and smooth. A pretty good stout.

Vatruvian (27) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 7, 2006
Draught. Poured black with small fine tan head. Aroma is rather weak (perhaps it was the java porter I had previously) and predominated by roasted barley. Little hop character throughout. Palate is somewhat watery for a stout but this makes it a little easier to drink. After a while it reminded me of dirty socks - not that I make it a habbit of eating socks.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2006 Draft - Roasted malt aroma wafts up from this great looking beer. It pours black with a big, lasting head. It has a nice stout flavor though as others have said it’s a bit thin on the palate. The finish is somewhat bitter and not in a bad way.

Draft at Mad Anthony Brewing. Poured black with a medium light brown head that diminished slowly. Medium roasted malt and sweet tone aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture. Muted nitro dry stout flavor with smooth medium finish. Solid to style.

Tap. A decently made stout. On a nitro tap. Opaque color with a brown long lasting head. Rich roasted malt aroma with coffee notes. Body is perhaps thin but not terribly so. Taste is of roasted malt. Hops balance nicely.
