I had never been a huge fan of porter until I tried this one. Smooth, full, smokey flavor with a slight hint of coffee, hopps are not overpowering like I have had in other porters. We think its the best beer from this brewery, its just not available as much as we would like it to be. hotstuff (5301) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 4, 2003
I am not one for porters that have an overwhelming or an overpowering coffee taste to them; however, this porter had a very pleasant and smooth coffee taste to it.I liked this porter to the point that I definitely would enjoy drinking this one again. So much so that I went ahead and ordered this porter with the pizza that "thedm" and I had which I think was much to his surprise! UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew formed very little head, smoky aroma and had a opaque dark brown body. It's head left a good lacing as it receded. It has a very smooth taste with a hint of coffee and a strong finish. MI2CA (1340) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - NOV 28, 2005
12oz - Aroma is roasted dark malt with a touch of creamy coffee. Pours a deep black with a medium brown head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma but is heavy on the roastiness. Palate is smooth and creamy. A tasty porter, maybe a little one dimensional.

Dark brown with a mammoth frothy tan head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, smoke and diacetyl. Taste of roasted malts, caramel, coffee and dark malts. Decent porter with a lively carbonation feel. StFun (567) - Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2008
Not too shabby for a local brew. Had this one in a bottle and a growler. This is a very hoppy porter. Didn’t really notice the chocolate, but does have a nice roasty flavor to it. Dark and rich, with lots of bitter hops. Citrus and dark fruits swirl around. A nice change-up from the traditional porter. SHIG (5322) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - APR 6, 2012
Draft: pours a deep black brown with thickness. Head was light brown/tan. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste was bakers chocolate, licorice, roasty malt and dry finish. DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 9, 2013
Taster on tap at the brewpub. Labeled simply "Porter". Dark brown color. Thin off-white head, decent ropes of lace. Very nice big coffee flavor, hint of dark fruit. Light roast malt, good long coffee aftertaste. Light to medium body. Lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, lighter sweet. Very good porter. Probably my favorite from what I tried during my visit. kramer (6989) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2006
12 oz bottle, via BBB63. Dark brown pour with a small chocolate brown head that settled to a thin film quickly. Aroma of chocolate malt and lots of roastiness. Lighter notes of coffee and a drying yeast character. Flavor is primarily roast up front with the chocolate malt more in the background. Very dry and moderately bitter finish with some astringency and chalkiness. Medium bodied with moderate fine bubbled carbonation. Slightly creamy up front and very drying on the finish. A pretty nice Porter, especially for those who prefer a more roasty character over a chocolate malt character.
