(22oz bottle) Pours an opaque black body with a small beige head. Aroma of candy, plastic, cinnamon, clove, cocoa, anise, ginger, and roasted malt. Flavor of chocolate whey powder, roasted malt, cinnamon, caramel, and more spices. A bit odd.

Sample at Neil’s HSC initation. This beer is brownish-black with a medium beige head that recedes slowly. Partchy lacing on the glass. Roasty aroma of malt and coffee with a bit of smoke. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, black coffee and spiced hops. Notes of dark chocolate as well. The finish is roasty and sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a deep black with tan head. Aroma of sharp dark roast, baking cocoa. Flavor of dark roast, some kinda tang, cinnamon, nice bitter. Mouth feel is medium-heavy body, silky, high carbonation. Overall, very good shit!!!!!!

Big thanks to markwise for this. Pours deep darkness with mocha head. The modest aroma is nice and chocolaty with a hint of caramel and bits of dark roastiness. The taste is a bit thin to start. I get a mix of dark roastiness, some yummy chocolate, faint banana and a touch of caramel. Into the finish some dry roastiness evens out the sweetness into the finish along with a sense of a mild off note of tartness. Good stuff.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Black as all hell. Gorgeous aroma with cocoa and caramel. Taste is a little dry. Has edges of burn with good notes of malt. Solid through and through.

JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 23, 2009
Bottle from batch #2 (I’m guessing there, but I figure it has to be batch #2, ’cuz I’m not tasting any banana). Black pour with a thin light brown head. Chocolate malt aroma with a touch of wheat. Chocolate malt flavor with wheat and a bit of alcohol before the dry coffee finish. No banana and that’s a good thing.

kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2009
Bottle courtesy of markwise. Pours a black muddy color with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of cooked veggies, chocolate, molasses, some barnyard funk, hints of ripe dark fruit and caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, molasses, anise, bitter chocolate and hints of vinegar and cooked veggies. Generally medium body with a malty finish.
