Draft at the brewpub on barrel night in March 2014. Deep brown with bare tan head. Lots of bourbon and vanilla with some espresso notes. Really good. radagast83 (8072) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Poured a dark brown color from the cask with just a little head, mostly wispy around the edges, totally black and flat in the middle. Aroma is bourbon barrel. Oak, vanilla. Easy drinking, though perhaps not totally subtle. Sipper, but enjoyable. 10% and not the 15% I had when a similar version was originally produced. Draft! I guess this one is un-retired. Maybe. Jet black color, brown head. Aroma of vanilla, coffee, light brandy. Taste is smooth and boozy vanilla, chocolate bon boms dipped in espresso. Very tasty. Big, but tasty. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Sampled while on tour at the brewpub. Pours a murky, cola brown with one ring of white head. Nose is plenty of malt and sugar, vanilla, cola, woody, some banana, some light spice. Flavor is more malt, vanilla, heavier coconut, almost a toasted coconut flavor, molasses. Served a little too cold for my liking, but it may have helped with the alcohol burn. Full bodied, sticky, boozy finish. dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Very interesting blend, like an imperial stout with a lot of hops....it’s big and black and also very boozy. Lots of chocolate and some licorice to it as well. Hops cover it, but not in a bad way. Issue is that it’s extremely boozy. The alcohol covers up some of the flavors. I feel that is this one aged a bit it could improve tremendously.

sepia with thin white head. Nose is prune, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is heavy, chocolate and vanilla burns through finish, lightest oat hints. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 4, 2012
Tap at Smoke and Barrel. Easily the best of our tasting flight. Very dark pour looking ink. Scant yellow bubbles. Nose is that typical Coctosin bourbon that gives off huge tomato paste in their Oaked Wee Heavy. Here thankfully the dark chocolate character blends better and gives off toasted coconut and oil in the nose. Taste is very silky, rich, coconut heavy. Similar to Firestone Walker Parabola. Very impressive. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 4, 2012
Draft at Smoke and Barrel.Nearly black pour with minimal head. Nose of big vanilla and spicy tannin barrel notes along with palpable dark fruits. Flavor brings more of the same lovely sweet and bold character, along with touches of hop bitterness. Actually an excellent brew.
