Draft at Black Squirrel. Pours reddish amber, fairly dark for an IPA, with haze of white bubbles. Aroma is very resinous: piney Citra hops with notes of pineapple, juicy lychee, and sweet malt. Great. Taste is pine and mango juice with honey-like malts, very drinkable. Some alcohol heat. Sweet and malty finish. Good. TylerGreenDC (1033) - - MAR 30, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2016 On draft. They?re not kidding with the "orange" part. Some orange aroma, but lots and lots of orange flavor, kind of more orange-plus-tea than orange fruit or juice. Toffee malty finish. Clean and crisp. Solid. Huhzubendah (3736) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 24, 2014
Growler shared by MNishCT77. Thanks Mark!
The beer is dark amber with a tan head. Certainly darker than I anticipated. Citra hops are present but only play a supporting role. This beer is the definition of balance, and I don’t mean that disparagingly, as is often the case when discussing IPAs and DIPAs. Sweet citrus with a sturdy malt body. Again, the balance is so elegant here. Bread crust and citric hops in perfect harmony. Really tasty. This beer has been on my radar for years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to try it. solidfunk (9366) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAR 15, 2014
Impressive and unexpected IPA. Orange whip is exactly what’s going on here with some zesty tangerine, a little booze and some light pine. Pours deep orange with OK head and lacing. Very bitter finish. Tap at Right Proper. GenDV138 (7579) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Draft at Mad Fox poured into a nonic pint glass, freshly tapped just 3 hours prior for their First Saturday Brewery Open House. Pours a nice dark amber/orange color with little off-white head. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, citrus peel and rind. Tasting notes of big grapefruit and orange citrus, pine, caramel, floral notes, big hops. Medium body with a dry finish, semi-juicy mouthfeel. Possibly my favorite of Mad Fox’s IPAs.

Last time I had this, it was far and away the best single IPA I'd ever tasted: big, juicy, orange citrus hops layered against a mildly sweet, creamy malt base. That August batch would command a ~4.5 rating from me, and I tend to be pretty conservative.
This growler (filled 3/26) is quite different than my last one over the summer. Dark amber pour is unique to the style. Fluffy white head up top shows good retention.
Palate features accents of orange peel, rather than the previous creamsicle bomb (which I loved). Fresh, juicy citrus from the hops balances nicely against a hearty malt base. Even without the creamsicle flavor, this is still an excellent IPA. Wish they brewed it more often. Pastor (799) - Skowhegan, Maine, USA - DEC 28, 2012
They picked the right name for this brew. It describes the flavor profile perfectly. Big old Orange notes on the nose and the orange zest comes thru in the flavoring. A fun beer to drink, I polished the growler off with little effort.
